James Cook University (JCU) Career Connect Mackay Expo 2021

The JCU Career Connect Mackay Expo 2021 is being hosted by Mackay Northern Beaches State High School, on Wednesday 4 August 2021, from 11:00am to 6:00pm on their campus. This event is brought to the community by Mackay Northern Beaches State High School and James Cook University, and supported by several local businesses including Mercy College.

The Expo will showcase everything career related for the Mackay and surrounding regions. Thanks to generous sponsorship from Harvey Norman Mackay, students who attend on the day have the chance to go into the draw to win a iPAD. For Year 12 students who are wishing to study in Brisbane next year, Scape Urbanest have also generously provided a scholarship to the value of 50% of one year’s accommodation costs that one lucky student can win. St Patrick’s College will be taking Year 11 and 12 students to this event. Permission forms for this excursion need to be returned to Ms McKay or Ms Hurley by Wednesday 28 July. Numbers are limited, so please return your forms promptly.

 Student Accommodation Expo

An event has been created on the Mackay North State High School’s Facebook page for the Student Accommodation Expo to be held on Wednesday 18 August (5:00pm – 7:00pm). This event is open to all schools (public and private), students and parents/carers in the Mackay region, so please indicate your attendance and/or share the event with others!

This will also be another opportunity for you and your child to connect with universities and TAFE, plus all student accommodation providers, especially if they would like to pursue studies away from Mackay. Note: You do not need to be a student studying at UQ to live in one of their accommodation colleges.  For further details, refer to the flyer in the Community Notices section of this newsletter.
